Echoes Through Time by Argentina Mora, the 1st place winner of the 2025 Catalyst Creative Contest
Argentina Mora is a junior Cell and Molecular Biology major, where they explore the intersection of science and art. Their mixed-media piece, "Echoes Through Time", visually represents the fluid nature of time through the lens of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. By juxtaposing raw emotion with cosmic structures, the piece captures the distortion of time in moments of nostalgia and regret. The fractured heart and warped space-time grids symbolize how gravity and motion alter our perception of time, much like how emotions can stretch or compress our lived moments. Argentina enjoys using acrylic paint, colored pencil, and digital art to create her pieces. Through this work, Argentina seeks to bridge the gap between science and human experience, illustrating that time is not just a measured sequence but a personal and ever-changing phenomenon.
Outside of this project, Argentina is a Patient Care Technician for Elder Home Care and a Research Assistant with Whole Communities-Whole Health. She is currently researching social determinants of health in the Del Valle area, focusing on environmental factors, food access, and health disparities. In her free time, she enjoys hiking Austin’s scenic trails and thrifting with friends!
