The WiSTEM Effect

FILMED by amÉlie trieu

“My name is Amélie Trieu, and I am a 4th year Radio-TV-Film and Political Communication student interested in the intersection of the arts and advocacy. I came to UT with the goal of championing underrepresented and misrepresented identities in media, and after graduation, I will be attending law school to support creatives and innovators through a focus on intellectual property. My favorite movies are Spotlight, The Princess Bride, and Coco. My favorite food is butter.

The WiSTEM Effect was created to highlight the institutional shortcomings of diversity-focused programs on female students. While this documentary demonstrates a discussion on the male facet of the environment and its effect on women, this issue scales beyond what is discussed in this short film to other social groups in the minority of these fields including identities beyond the gender binary and those based on race and ethnic background.

Thank you for watching! Happy Women’s History Month!”
