Anesthesia

By Kena Desai

“My name is Kena Desai and I'm a sophomore Public Health major on the pre-med track. I've been doing art ever since I was little and even started a watercolor painting online store, called KenaliaCards, where I turn photos and portraits into hand-painted watercolor cards. My piece, "Anesthesia," inspired by the theme "Beauty in Science" illustrates a patient slowly succumbing to the effects of general anesthesia, with the room slipping into darkness and the surgeons becoming blurrier. Anesthesia has made it so that we can have life-saving surgeries without experiencing brutal pain, and that's something that in my opinion, is really beautiful. We can see the impact of science and scientific discovery translated to massive improvements in the lives of people and society.”
