A Longhorn's Guide to Austin Coffee Shops
Whether you have to pull an all-nighter to write a paper you had an entire semester to do or you’re about to spend hours working on a stressful Quest assignment, you’ll need a study spot where you can be the most productive. If PCL doesn’t make the cut and you hate fighting for tables at the SAC, consider a change of scenery, and try out one of the many coffee shops in the Austin area.
Located in the Mueller district, Halcyon is a great place to work and study with friends. On the weekends, it can get a bit crowded during brunch, but don’t let that stop you from trying out some of the tasty snacks on their menu like the table-side S’mores and $1 mimosas!
2) Caffé Medici
For the student who doesn’t want to travel too far for some good coffee and a relaxed study environment, Caffé Medici is the place to go. Located on the Drag next to CVS, Caffé Medici is a convenient study spot for those living in West Campus!
3) Epoch Coffee
Located a few miles north of campus, Epoch Coffee offers a nice study environment as well as an outdoor patio to enjoy the Austin weather. The Iced Mojo is their house specialty, and their hot chocolate is perfect for winding down after a long day.
4) Monkey Nest Coffee
Try out Monkey Nest Coffee and enjoy a friendly environment where you can study and enjoy one of their pastries or delicious handcrafted sandwiches. If you need a break from studying, they also host local musicians for live music once in a while!
5) Mozart’s Coffee Roasters
Want to enjoy some great coffee and high quality desserts while you look out at a beautiful view of Lake Austin? Look no further because Mozart’s Coffee Roasters is the place for you! On weekdays, they’re open until midnight, and they offer lots of indoor and outdoor seating for studying. If you’re feeling festive, you can also come and watch their spectacular music and light show during the holidays!
6) Bennu Coffee
If you’re looking for a place that’s close to campus and open 24 hours, consider trying out Bennu Coffee. They have a nice, relaxed study atmosphere with plenty of outlets and large tables for group work. Be sure to get coffee with a friend, and then take a picture by the “You’re My Butter Half” mural right across the street.
7) Thunderbird Coffee
Located only a couple miles away from campus, Thunderbird Coffee is a great place to study and eat brunch. With a wide variety of coffee and delicious tacos from Taco Deli, you’re sure to start your morning off right!
