It is my personal philosophy that as with most things in life, during finals week, perspective and mindfulness are key.
For our last issue of the year, we focused on the topic of staying healthy both in mind and body during this stressful time of exams that determine our final grades. While this is a tremendous amount of pressure and full effort should be put into this pursuit, do not forget to be aware of other things happening around you, from signs from your body that you need a break to a close friend in need.
The wonderful writers at The Catalyst have compiled articles on all things finals, from a notable study method called the “Feynman Technique” to study music playlists and spots on or near campus to camp out. Some of the pieces are health-focused, such as the best study foods, overall tips, and even interviews with UT kinesiology and nutrition faculty on how to maintain wellness during heavy stress. I’d like to add that we have many other resources available to us as part of the UT community, such as CMHC’sMindBody Lab, whose representative was with us today at the new member project (no appointments are necessary to use their equipment, just walk in to the 5th floor of the SSB with your ID).
Take care of your whole being, enjoy a restful break, and return next semester rejuvenated and ready to take on your goals!
